Helping Young Doctors Answer God’s Call to Missions
World Medical Mission sends hundreds of physicians each year on short-term assignments to mission hospitals to minister to the sick and share the Gospel. Around the world, however, there is still a critical need for more Christian doctors to pursue careers in missionary medicine.
For young physicians just out of residency who feel called to medical missions, our Post-Residency Program provides the opportunity to serve for two years in a hospital overseas. Through this program, we have physicians and their families serving in over a dozen developing countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Drs. Garry and Leann Finke are serving at Kijabe Hospital in Kenya, where the couple continually witnesses God’s healing hand at work. Leann especially remembers a 13-year-old boy named Kelvin who spent a month in the hospital after being run over by a car. He almost died, but the Lord answered the prayers of the Christian staff at the hospital.
“Kelvin knows that he is a miracle from God,” Leann said. “When he first came off the ventilator, he was leading the nurses in prayers! His family now thinks he is going to be a preacher.”
Please pray for the Finkes and the other physicians in our Post-Residency Program, that God will use them to take the Good News of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth.
