Technical Systems Officer, South Sudan (1010)

Juba, South Sudan - The Technical Systems Officer will monitor, maintain and troubleshoot the computers, networks, communications equipment, and electrical systems for the South Sudan Programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure efficient smooth running technical systems and equipment for all South Sudan field sites

Northern Bahr el Ghazal , South Sudan - The Program Manager, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) is responsible for managing and coordinating all water, sanitation, and hygiene activities in the Bahr el Ghazal region of Sudan. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage and oversee the work of the WASH management team; this includes, but is not limited to, the Drilling Manager, Engineering Manager, Health and Hygiene Manager, Field Operations Manager, and Special Projects Coordinator
• Assist in recruiting and hiring needed staff
• Ensure that all WASH staff have accurate job descriptions and are informed of their reporting structure

Program Manager, Safety & Security - Haiti (1032)

Haiti - The Program Manager, Safety and Security is based in Haiti with responsibilities that include but are not limited to the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all issues relating to staff security and safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with diverse personnel who impact security of Samaritan’s Purse (SP) personnel. These include but are not limited to local leaders, police, foreign military, other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), United Nations (UN) offices and government leaders.
• Manage all SP national staff security guards, supervisors and radio operators spread over multiple compounds separated by as much as 3 hours drive time. Oversee all administrative functions and payroll responsibilities for these positions.
• Monitoring and enforcement of security and safety for all projects, including reporting to the Boone office on a regular basis. When required, analysis of security incidents and compilation of reports including personal assessment and evaluation of internal compliance with the country policies.
• Conduct detailed internal investigations and interviews in response to serious incidents involving SP to include but not limited to vehicle accidents and armed robberies. May require collaboration with the local police, judge or UN personnel.
• Continually update and maintain safety/security policies for SP Haiti to ensure safety/security of all staff. This includes but is not limited to: base security procedures, driver’s checklists for preventive maintenance of vehicles, convoy procedures, emergency medical response, natural disaster response, reporting procedures for field operations, new staff/volunteer security briefing, evacuation plans, liberty policies and travel restrictions.
• Maintain records of incidents/crimes in areas that SP works, both involving SP and not, to develop a full picture of the historical and present safety/security profile in order to effectively analyze and prepare for future risks in these areas. Establish personal contacts and sources for accurate/updated information in these areas.
• Keep the Country Director (CD) and Field Security and Safety Officer informed of security status, information, needs and concerns. Produce a monthly issues report on field security activities for the CD and the Field Security and Safety Officer.
• Monitor present and potential emergencies/natural disasters involving Haiti and keep the Country Director informed of events, including specific crisis response options.
• Maintain awareness of legal and cultural requirements for SP national and international staff and ensure reasonable compliance with the same.


QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous Security Management experience required. Emergency response/CPR/First Aid medical training preferred. Possess a Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or minimum of two years of related experience and/or training.
• French/Creole language skills preferred, but not required.

South Sudan - The Logistician is responsible to oversee and manage logistics, staff security, and to design and implement systems for procurement, importation, and transport of emergency relief commodities. Bolivia - The Community Health and Logistics Assistant will work primarily onboard the 'Ruth Bell,' the Samaritan's Purse medical Boat, which will be navigating rivers in the Department of Beni in the Bolivian Amazon. The candidate will assist the Medical Boat Physician Coordinator and SP Beni Community Health staff in the: (1) design and implementation of integrated health and evangelism activities in remote river communities of Beni; and (2) coordination and lgostics of short-term international and national medical teams and personnel while they serve onboard the Ruth Bell.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Health & Evangelism Education (Approximately 70 % of time)
• Design Biblical Worldview materials and training lessons related to preventive health, hygiene and nutrition.
• Implement integrated health and evangelism outreaches in remote river communities visited by the Ruth Bell medical boat.
• Support the boat’s medical staff as auxiliary in providing medical care to patients.
• Establish and help supervise discipleship groups in remote river communities visited by the Ruth Bell.

• Develop and manage relationships with World Medical Mission (WMM) post-resident physicians visiting the boat to support the project.
• Act as translator between WMM physicians and Spanish-speaking patients living in communities along the river in the Bolivian Amazon.

Kampala, Uganda - Samaritan's Purse is seeking a qualified individual to lead and manage a Title II funded Development Food Assistance Program (formerly MYAP). This person will have oversight and managerial responsibility over all aspects of this multi-year and multi-agency program. S/he will be responsible for overall program implementation and staff development. The Chief of Party will provide direct oversight and leadership for the program. • Fabricate and install rafters or trusses, install purlins and metal roofing. Install insulation, plywood ceilings, hang doors, mount aluminum windows, build screens, install vinyl siding, install gutters, install shelves, and other projects as specified;
• Help with the layout of building features and cosmetics;
• Work with and support electrical and plumbing crews as needed;
• Assist in the management of Haitian construction crews;
• Perform other duties as assigned;
• Work jointly and efficiently with other international and national crew members;
• Maintain security of all materials and equipment at job sites;
• Communicate and minister to volunteers and partners, keeping them informed of the team's work and projected needs;
• Lead carpenters will review and update the Project Manager on project progress and current and developing needs;
• Complete and submit reports for any injuries occurring at the job sites;
• Follow policies and procedures of Samaritan’s Purse as set forth in the Policy and Procedure Manual;
• Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers;
• Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public;
• Be sensitive to local Haiti customs and culture.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Six years experience as a carpenter. (Lead carpenters must have at least 2 years as lead carpenter additionally);
• Ability to lead a crew with a pro-active, enthusiastic approach in 100 degree temperature environment;
• Work, lead and communicate with Haitian national workers training them in good and safe work practices and tool usage;
• Ability to respect and work with employees of various skill levels; works well in diverse team environments;
• Understand, embrace and promote the value of team work;
• Maintain high level, quality workmanship with given resources and effectively convey this standard to others.
