Operation Heal Our Patriots gives wounded veterans and their spouses the opportunity for spiritual refreshment, physical renewal, and marriage enrichment. Couples participate in Biblically-based seminars that help strengthen their relationships with God and others and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation with outdoor activities at our Alaskan wilderness lodge. We continue to support these men and women after their initial stay, keeping their spiritual needs and marriages a priority.

Advent Devotional Thought #2, by Chaplain Jim Fisher
So what do we really know of Mary? For two thousand years she remains a woman of controversy. Mary has been adorned as a demi-goddess by some, accused as a harlot by others, identified as a bringer of modern miracles, considered as sinless as her son. I think her song in Luke 1:46f probably is the most accurate portrayal of this woman who is so prominent in the Christmas story, “And Mary said: my soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for He has been mindful of the humble state of His servant. His mercy extends to those who fear Him from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as He said to our fathers.” So what do we really know of Mary? Based on her actual words describing herself, we discover a humble woman who expresses gratitude for the mercies of God through the gift of His son. It’s been said that when you receive a gift you honor the giver. This Christmas let us receive the gift of Jesus Christ in an attitude of humility and gratitude…and in so doing, provide honor to God.
