Last year, individuals, families, churches, and organizations in the Great Lakes packed 571,501 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child that were sent to needy children worldwide.
For more than a decade, Operation Christmas Child has answered the call to share the love of Jesus Christ with hurting children around the world. In 2009, more than 8.1 million shoe box gifts were collected internationally from the United States and 12 other countries. Since 1993, more than 77 million gift-filled shoe boxes have been distributed to children in more than 130 countries worldwide.
If you are interested in partnering with Operation Christmas Child to encourage churches and the local community to reach children around the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ, please contact the Great Lakes Regional office or call 937-374-0761.
AREA TEAM DEVELOPMENT
Is God calling you to use your gifts and talents in the ministry of Operation Christmas Child? Becoming a part of an active Area Leadership Team is an opportunity to make an impact on children who are refugees of civil war, survivors of natural disasters, and victims of extreme poverty. They all need to know that God loves them.
At Operation Christmas Child, we organize our volunteer opportunities by Area Teams. Area Coordinator’s lead a team of passionate OCC volunteers to share within their communities how individuals, churches and groups can respond to the Great Commission through generating shoe box gifts. By localizing volunteers in their communities, team efforts are within a specific geographic area.
If God is calling you, we are currently recruiting leader volunteers to serve as:
Area Coordinators — Indiana (Bloomington, Evansville, Rockville, and Washington); OH (Dayton, Lima, Mt. Vernon, NE OH - Toledo, and Zanesville); MI (Detroit Metro Area); WV (Huntington, Parkersburg, and Princeton).
Prayer Coordinators, Church Relations Coordinators, Community Relations Coordinators, and Media Coordinators — There are many opportunities throughout the Great Lakes Region. Please contact the Great Lakes Regional Office for specific details.
If you are interested in partnering with us in the work of Operation Christmas Child, you can read more about how to volunteer on our Volunteer opportunities page.
If you have questions or would like to receive an application, or complete aVolunteer Interest Form.
National Collection Week is November 15-22, 2010
