'THERE IS HOPE' MANUAL
This 207-page manual covers topics such as HIV/AIDS facts, Biblically based prevention, testing, stigma, and compassionate care. Each day’s lesson begins with a devotion, and Scripture is used throughout the curriculum to reinforce God’s plan for sex and marriage.
ANA'S STORY
This storyboard set illustrates the story of Ana that is included in the There Is Hope manual. Ana’s story is designed to reduce stigma by emphasizing the importance of forgiveness. Ana is a young girl who finds that she is HIV - positive after dating an older man. Frightened and ashamed, she returns home. Although her parents are grieved by her situation, they demonstrate unconditional love. Ana’s story is 16 pages with African illustrations on the front and a script in English on the back.
CLEMENT'S STORY
The story of Clement demonstrates the importance of compassionate care for those suffering from HIV/AIDS. Clement, who is HIV - positive, is visited by a church leader who encourages his family to provide care. The story gives practical ways to help those living with HIV. Basic information about the disease is also woven into the narrative, and there is a clear message against stigma. Clement’s story is 12 pages with African illustrations on the front and a script in English on the back.
JOSEPH'S STORY
The There Is Hope manual includes this retelling of the Biblical story of Joseph, which educates youth on making choices that honor God, including abstinence before marriage. When Joseph refuses to sleep with his master’s wife, she makes false claims against him. Although the young man suffers in the short term, the Lord ultimately rewards his faithfulness. Joseph’s story is five pages with African illustrations on the front and a script in English on the back.
