Logistician

Kebredahar, Ethiopia - The Logistician is responsible to oversee and manage logistics. The areas of responsibilities will include but not be limited to procurement, storage, fleet management, communication, facilities improvement and limited IT. When appropriate, this position will provide support for the field operations in Ethiopia.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Oversee all aspects of procurement, storage, fleet management and communications
-Design improved systems where necessary
-Frequent travel to other parts of the region and country to identify potential suppliers of materials, goods and services
-Provide relevant logistical data to the project development process
-Support the Kebredahar Base Manager in providing an efficient and secure working/living environment of SP staff
-Support the Kebredahar Base Manager in monitoring and enforcing SP security policies (regarding facilities, communication and fleet management} in Kebredahar

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Bachelor's Degree or equivalent; Masters Degree preferred, but not required and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
-Agreement and compliance with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith and policies
-Minimum of 3 years proven experience in the area of logistics in a developing country
-Experience working in Muslim context, preferred
-Experience working conflict zones, preferred
-Flexibility and adaptability
-Diplomacy, negotiating skills
-Strong networking, leadership and team building skills necessary

Length of contract: 12 months

Target date to the field: Oct 09 or sooner
