Tsevelmaa and Delgerzaya have a lot in common. For starters, Tsevelmaa is the mother of 9-month-old twins, a daughter and a son. Delgerzaya is seven months pregnant, and she is eagerly awaiting the arrival of her twins.
Both women live in the remote town of Ayrag in the Dorngovi province of Mongolia and have close-knit families. Tsevelmaa is 24 years old and lives in a small ger with her husband, their two children, her mother, and her brother-in-law. Delgerzaya, age 34, lives in a ger with her husband and their four children.
Life is a constant struggle for them and other very poor families in the area. Stable employment is hard to find. Many women are not able to afford maternity clothing or necessities for their babies.
As an outreach to the community, Samaritan’s Purse partnered with the local church to purchase supplies for expectant women and mothers who had recently had a baby. Each woman received a package that included a baby’s bathtub, a snowsuit and other baby clothes, a coat for mom, prenatal vitamins, slippers, sheets, and bath towels.
Tsevelmaa and Delgerzaya were among 50 women who picked up baby packets. Moved by the love shown by their Christian neighbors, they accepted an invitation to attend a weekly meeting held in the home of one of the church members. They also started coming to Sunday worship services.
On March 19, these two mothers established yet another connection—their newly found faith in Jesus. Both of them prayed to receive Christ as their Savior that evening, and now they have become daughters of their Father in heaven.
Four years ago, the church began with a handful of believers who gathered to worship and pray in private homes. Today about 60 adults and children, including Tsevelmaa and Delgerzaya, make up the growing congregation.
- For this small church to receive official registration from the government.
- For the believers in Mongolia to plant more churches and stand strong in their faith.
- That struggling Mongolian moms will find the resources to meet the needs of their families.
