By passing on the love that had been shown to her, Maomi helped lead a neighbor to faith in Christ.

Maomi lost her family and her home when a deadly cyclone ripped through Myanmar last year. God used the unconditional love shown by her co-workers at a Samaritan's Purse-supported clinic where she works as a nurse to heal her spirit.

Recently, the Lord gave her an opportunity to show the same kind of love and save a life for eternity.

“I was at a shop in the village, and there was a woman named Aye who was hated in the community,” she said. “Some people said this lady was born with an evil spirit because she was so mean.”

Aye was having trouble walking. She collapsed and hit her head. Maomi and the shopkeeper carried Aye to the clinic.

As Maomi helped stitch her head and bandage her wounds Aye kept shouting, “Leave me alone! I have no money for you! Just let me go home and die!”

Maomi took her by taxi to the nearest hospital, where she could receive more extensive treatment. Our partners agreed to pay for all of the expenses.

Eight months later, a woman came running toward Maomi as she walked through a market in a neighboring village. It was Aye.

“She had a big smile on her face and tears in her eyes,” Maomi said.

Aye wrapped her arms around Maomi. “I prayed I would see you again,” she said.

The grateful woman recounted how the unconditional love shown by Maomi and her co-workers had touched her heart.

“I asked the hospital staff why you would do such a thing for me,” Aye said. “They laughed and said it was because you are Christian. Then I knew in my heart that your God is the real God.”

When she was released from the hospital, Aye found a local pastor and asked him to tell her more about Jesus.

“I am now a Christian too,” she told Maomi. “I follow Jesus because of you.”

    PLEASE PRAY

  • For our church partners as they model the love of Christ to their neighbors.

  • That new believers like Aye will impact their communities as they mature in their faith.

  • That our work in Myanmar and throughout Asia will lead many to salvation.
