KENYA
Aiding an individual

Mustafa Njoloi is a hard-working farmer in Kenya's Kinango district, but he wasn't always known for his work ethic. He used to be lazy, he says, living in a lean-to with a roof made of rotting grass. His marriage was falling apart, and there was no peace in his home. He was also skeptical of Samaritan's Purse workers, whom he knew were Christians. But the better Mustafa got to know these Christians, the more he liked them. He saw their love for one another and his community. They installed a household filter and latrine on Mustafa's property and taught him better farming techniques, including irrigation, to make his arid land yield bountiful crops.

KENYA
Changing a family

The next season, Mustafa was able to produce a harvest that provided enough nutritious food for his family and additional income, which he used to send his children to school. Through the work of Samaritan's Purse, Mustafa also came to know Jesus Christ as his Savior. His wife immediately began to notice changes in her husband's attitude and behavior and she too became a believer. There is now peace in their home.

KENYA
Impacting a community

Mustafa is also supporting the village's only church with his extra crops. Since the congregation is small and poor, this action allows the pastor to focus on reaching out to the small community. Mustafa is also helping our teams install household water filters and teaching others improved agricultural practices.

KENYA
Improving a region

Many fields were burned after Kenya's post-election violence and drought in the area has led to crop failure. By promoting irrigation practices in Kinango, Samaritan's Purse is bringing stability to a region that often struggles with food security.

It all started with a cup of clean water.
