Joseph "Jody" Babin - Baton Rouge, LA

LTC Joseph “Jody” T. Babin, III (USAR Retired)

Known for his infectious laugh and servant’s heart, Jody passed away at the age of 71 peacefully at his home on June 26, 2025. He was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on July 18, 1953, but raised in Baton Rouge. He was a graduate of LSU, where he was an ROTC cadet. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, both on active duty and in the Army Reserves. Jody was awarded numerous medals for his service, among them the prestigious Legion of Merit. He retired from the military as a Lt. Colonel after serving for 28 years. Jody worked in the insurance business for over 35 years.

He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid LSU sports fan. In his spare time, Jody enjoyed traveling, taking trips to the beach, to Omaha for the 2009 CWS, and to the Grand Canyon. Jody was an active member of Jefferson Baptist Church where he served in various capacities, as a deacon, in the choir, on the security team, different committees, and mission trips, as well as helped with Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. Most importantly, he was a follower of Jesus Christ.

Jody had a great sense of humor and a smile that could light up a room.
