Samaritan's Purse is at work to help suffering people in storm-battered Texas, Florida, and across several islands of the Caribbean.

Samaritan's Purse responds to the urgent needs of families devastated by the wind, rain, and storm surge of catastrophic hurricanes. Whether in the United States or abroad, we come alongside hurting people to bring emergency relief and practical help in the Name of Jesus Christ.

In the United States, we send disaster relief units—tractor trailers stocked with equipment and supplies—to hard-hit areas where we set up volunteer centers in partnership with local churches. Our staff and volunteer teams then work to assist hurting homeowners by cutting trees, tarping roofs, and performing mud-outs. As we work, we boldly present the hope of the Gospel. Right now we are operating from multiple response bases in Texas and two in Florida to aid people affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. We had two additional sites in Florida but have now completed our work in those places.

In mid-November, we will begin rebuild projects in Pearland and Rockport, Texas. Our volunteers will be called on to do both restoration work and new construction.

We praise God that more than 10,000 volunteers have served homeowners in Jesus' Name across our Texas and Florida sites. More than 500 people have come to faith in Jesus Christ through the witness of our volunteers and Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains.

When major hurricanes hit international locations, we deploy a disaster assistance response team (DART) to quickly bring in and distribute a variety of emergency supplies. We leverage our Samaritan's Purse aircraft, including our DC-8 cargo plane, to assist.

In recent weeks we have airlifted generators, food, water purification units, hygiene kits, blankets, and heavy-duty shelter plastic to the Caribbean, and our distributions are ongoing. Today dozens of DART members are working to help families, as well as Christian congregations, on several devastated islands, including Puerto Rico, Dominica, and Barbuda. As we minister in the wake of Hurricanes Irma, Jose, and Maria, we share the Good News of Jesus Christ alongside local church partners.

UPDATE: Our first major distribution of relief supplies on Puerto Rico began Sept. 27. Also, during the week of Sept. 24-30, we completed our missions on the Turks and Caicos Islands and St. Martin. So far, over 40,000 people have benefited from our work in the Caribbean. For updates on our Caribbean response, go here.

Please continue to pray for all those affected by this historic 2017 hurricane season, which has brought so much pain and suffering to so many.
