The work of Samaritan’s Purse around the world has continued in 2020 as we respond to vast need in many hurting communities, working hard in Jesus’ Name to make Him known amid difficulties and disasters. Even in the face of COVID-19 outbreaks, the immense need did not stop, and God was faithful to work in the hearts many people worldwide. We praise God we so often had the opportunity to see this work firsthand.

Disaster Relief: Beirut Explosion

Emergency Field Hospital: New York City
“Mr. Giovanni first realized he had COVID-19 after he found himself adding salt to the meals his wife cooked because they ‘lacked taste.’ Several days later he became severely short of breath, requiring immediate hospitalization at the Emergency Field Hospital in Central Park. Livelihoods: South Sudan
“Nyanachek's husband was sick, so she was the breadwinner for her five children. After joining our agriculture training, she learned how to plant and harvest onions. She also learned how to sell her harvest to support her family with the extra income. Maternal Child Health: Vietnam
“I am thankful to God to care for little children in a remote, poor village in the northern highlands. Beekeeping: Kenya
“I had lost hope of educating my children, but now my life has really changed. I am doing things I couldn't believe, and now I can support my family. I once was lost, with no hope in life. I thank God for Samaritan's Purse.”.David is a beneficiary of our Beekeeping Project in Kenya, and through this project the farmer has been able to support his family and has heard the Gospel. Now he is a follower of Jesus Christ because of the witness of our staff during trainings.

Disaster Relief: Honduras Hurricanes

Hurricane Harvey Rebuilds: Texas
Francisca Castañeda and her son Jose were the first family to move into their new home built by Samaritan's Purse in the Hope Hill neighborhood of La Grange, Texas. We’ve been rebuilding in Texas since November 2017 after Hurricane Harvey and have helped more than 1,100 individuals return home. We’ve also assisted with the rebuild or repair of more than 150 damaged churches. More than 4,500 dedicated and hardworking volunteers have made this happen.

Solar Lamps: Kenya
“I met several of the families who received one of our solar lamps and was amazed something so simple could have such a profound impact. Rachel, the woman in the photo, said the lamp has helped her grandchildren in school. ‘The solar lamp is a great help. The lamp helps my grandkids study longer. Emergency Field Hospital: New York City
“I remember one patient asked me, ‘Why do you do this? Why are you here?’ We told him we’re responding to what God has asked us to do. That man later received Jesus Christ and then began sharing the Gospel with other Spanish-speaking patients in the hospital. This is one reason why when a call comes in, it's hard to refuse. DC-8 Flights: Beirut Airlift
“It's just devastating. It's completely unfathomable. We've never had anything like this before even during the civil war in Lebanon.”.A Beirut church partner who helped us identify needs and distribute relief in Lebanon following a massive explosion in the city this year. We airlifted 57 tons of relief on two separate airlifts aboard our DC-8 aircraft.

Children’s Heart Project: Return to Mongolia
“In 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdowns, we had many Mongolian patients, moms, and interpreters stranded in North America for quite some time, unable to get home following surgeries and recoveries. Our DC-8 received special permissions to bring all 25 Mongolians back home during the lockdowns.
