{"id":52760,"date":"2015-08-20T09:48:28","date_gmt":"2015-08-20T13:48:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staging.samaritanspurse.org\/?p=52760"},"modified":"2021-07-15T14:06:42","modified_gmt":"2021-07-15T18:06:42","slug":"samaritans-purse-deploys-to-help-florida-flood-victims-press-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.samaritanspurse.org\/es\/our-ministry\/samaritans-purse-deploys-to-help-florida-flood-victims-press-release\/","title":{"rendered":"Samaritan&#8217;s Purse Deploys to Help Florida Flood Victims (Press Release)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BOONE, N.C., Aug. 14, 2015<\/strong> \u2014 Samaritan's Purse disaster response specialists and a disaster relief\r\nunit stocked with supplies deploy to New Port Richey, Florida, where more rain is now drenching\r\nalready flooded areas.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Initial reports estimate more than 400 homes and structures have been damaged by the floodwaters.\r\nThe North Carolina-based international Christian relief organization will work with volunteers to help\r\nflood victims.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p><em>\u201cOur hearts go out to the flood victims whose lives have been turned upside down and who have lost\r\nso many personal belongings,\u201d<\/em> dijo Franklin Graham, presidente de Samaritan\u2019s Purse. <em>\u201cWe will work\r\nto help families with cleanup and let them know that God is with them in their time of need.\"<\/em>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>Utilizing its network of volunteers, Samaritan's Purse teams will clean mud out of flooded houses and\r\nremove waterlogged belongings. They will also tear out damaged drywall, insulation and flooring, and\r\nspray for mold so families can begin to rebuild their lives. The volunteers will play a crucial role in\r\nhelping Pasco County families recover from the devastating floods.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The Samaritan\u2019s Purse disaster relief unit is a tractor-trailer stocked with heavy-duty tarps,\r\ngenerators, and other tools and supplies for the cleanup efforts. This unit will serve as the command\r\ncenter and will be based at Living Word Church in New Port Richey, Florida.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES<\/strong>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Todd Taylor, assistant manager of U.S. Disaster Relief for Samaritan's Purse, who is on the\r\nground in Pasco County and managing the organization\u2019s response, is available for Skype or\r\nphone interviews.<\/li>\r\n<li>Tim Haas, manager of U.S. Disaster Relief for Samaritan\u2019s Purse, who is coordinating relief\r\nefforts from the organization\u2019s North Carolina headquarters is available for interviews.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>A team of chaplains from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association\u2019s Rapid Response Team has also\r\ndeployed to the disaster area. They will be working alongside Samaritan\u2019s Purse to share the love of\r\nChrist, providing spiritual encouragement and support to victims and their families.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Since 1998, Samaritan\u2019s Purse has helped more than 29,000 families in 35 U.S. states following\r\nfloods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires and ice storms.
