But it wasn\u2019t until her sophomore year of college that she became a year-round volunteer.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Katherine has enjoyed raising the visibility of Operation Christmas Child on campus through a block party event as well as a \u201cshoebox blitz\u201d in November. Her team organized the latter as a school-sponsored time for students to shop together for shoeboxes after their usual curfew. Students then went to the \u201cShoebox Central\u201d tent to pray over and drop off their packed boxes and have milk and cookies.<\/p>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/01-04-16-1586US-E-059-360x240.jpg\"><figcaption>Katherine reaching out to her peers.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<!-- inserted quote \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"quote-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"quote\">\u201cMy passion is evangelism and the desire to see one more person come to Jesus.\u201d<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"quote-attribution\">Jill Cobb<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"role-title\">AREA COORDINATOR<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/section>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<!-- inserted quote -->\r\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u201cA lot of college students have a heart to serve,\u201d Katherine said, \u201cthey just don\u2019t know where.\u201d She enjoys mobilizing students and giving them worldwide influence for the Gospel through Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan&#8217;s Purse.<\/p>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Reflecting on her role as a Student Relations volunteer, Katherine said, \u201cWe sometimes feel that we\u2019re young compared to the other volunteers, but we can impact the students around us and our peers right next to us. A few years ago, as Winnie drove US Highway 60 from Springfield to Nashville, Tennessee, she noticed First Baptist Church in Mountain View, Missouri, and thought it would be a good place for a shoebox drop-off location. When she noticed Matt Cobb was the pastor, she wondered if this could be Jill\u2019s husband.  She hadn\u2019t had contact with the couple for 10 years.<\/p>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.theark.cloud\/sp-comm-arkfiles\/website\/occ\/yr-round-volunteer-page\/2017-updates\/article-images\/Jill-Cobb-inset-1.jpg\"><figcaption>Jill shows her enthusiasm for Operation Christmas Child. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Calling the church, she discovered it was in fact the same Matt and Jill Cobb whom she'd known years ago. This led to a reunion with the couple, and Winnie asked Jill if she would be interested in volunteering with Operation Christmas Child. She served in logistics first, and in 2016 became the area coordinator for the Springfield, Missouri Area Team. <\/p>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>During her interview for that position, Jill was reminded of a vision she\u2019d had 10 years earlier of 1 billion people being saved during her lifetime. She shed tears of joy when she realized that, through Operation Christmas Child, she could have a small part in this becoming a reality. <\/p>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u201cJill is a gifted leader with such a passion and spiritual maturity,\u201d Winnie said. \u201cIt\u2019s exciting to see how God is using her.\u201d <\/p>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Jill quickly added, \u201cI\u2019m thankful God chooses to use us.
