Liberty University Shoebox Challenge

The 2019 Shoebox Blitz is now over. Thank you for your interest.

Liberty University Shoebox Blitz

Join the Blitz!

Your community group could get a rare opportunity to take an expenses-paid trip together to witness children hearing and responding to the Gospel through Operation Christmas Child outreach events!

The community group that wins our Liberty University Shoebox Blitz will be invited to participate in Operation Christmas Child outreach events in Colombia in January 2020! You’ll get to join several local churches as they share the Good News of Jesus Christ—God’s Greatest Gift—and distribute Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts to children in need in their communities. Experience what it’s like to see the joy on a child’s face as they receive what might be their first gift!

Details

  • Pick up shoeboxes to fill with gifts at Convocation on Sept. 18 or in the offices at LU Serve and LU Shepherd.
  • Meet as a community group to fill shoeboxes to the brim with new, quality‑condition school supplies, hygiene items, toys, and other fun items. See our gift suggestions according to age group, and don’t forget to include a “Wow” item! Pray as a group for the boys and girls who will receive your shoebox gifts.
  • Community Group Leaders Only: Complete an entry form to verify group eligibility as soon as possible before the contest deadline. Then, post a visible to public video (60‑second max) or photo of your community group packing shoebox gifts on Instagram, sharing what you’re doing and why, by Oct. 18. Use #LUShoeboxBlitz, tag @OperationChristmasChild and @libertyosd, and include the total number of shoeboxes the group packed. Only one entry per community group to be posted by the community group leader, so brainstorm and make the most out of the post!
  • Drop off your packed shoeboxes at the Liberty University Shoebox Blitz, Oct. 18–25, in Montview Student Union. Be sure to fill out a shoebox drop‑off log there to associate the shoebox gifts you are dropping off with your community group.

More Than A Shoebox!

When a child receives an Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift, it is only the beginning. Millions of boys and girls also have the opportunity to learn more about Jesus’ gift of salvation and what it means to follow Him.

As a follow-up to its Operation Christmas Child project, Samaritan’s Purse developed a discipleship program for shoebox recipients called The Greatest Journey. Samaritan’s Purse trains local churches to teach this 12-lesson Bible study about how to receive Jesus as Savior and to tell others about His saving grace.
