Bongolo Hospital, Gabon—Family Medicine/General Practitioner needed anytime through June 2020

Bongolo Hospital, Gabon, has a need for a family medicine/general practitioner anytime through June 2020. Any amount of service time would be appreciated, but it is preferred that short-term volunteers have at least 19 days, including travel, available for service.

Proficiency in French is preferred for this position, since French is the primary language and charting is done in French, but is not required because interpreters are available.

The individual volunteer is responsible for the costs associated with the trip. World Medical Mission personnel will provide assistance in arranging all travel, including international flights, in-country travel, visas, permits, and/or medical licensing.

Volunteers fly into the capital city of Libreville. The following day, they fly local commercial airlines or a mission flight (if available) to the town of Mouila and then are driven two hours to Bongolo Hospital.

Bongolo Hospital is a 158-bed hospital located in Labemba, Gabon. There also is an HIV/AIDS treatment center and a busy outpatient department, which sees an average of 500 patients per week. Bongolo is family friendly with a mix of national and expatriate staff. It presently serves one third of the country’s population.
