Kapsowar Hospital, Kenya – October/December 2017; January-May 2018

Kapsowar Hospital – Located in a remote area of northwestern Kenya, about 60 miles from the Uganda border, it is operated by the Africa Inland Mission (AIM). It is a small, district-level hospital which provides the majority of medical care to this remote region. The 126-bed, multi-building hospital provides facilities for maternity, pediatric, medical, and surgical care. Mobile maternal and child health clinics travel to three centers up to 90 km (56 miles) away. Four dispensaries provide simple health care for the local people. The hospital has approximately 4,000 inpatient admissions and 15,000 outpatient visits per year.  The hospital has an x-ray department, laboratory, and pharmacy.

URGENT NEED:  Recruiting a General Surgeon for short-term service of an urgent need for service in OR to cover staff furlough. A 2 to 4 week service time is requested during the months of October 2017, the first week of December 2017, and during the months of January thru May 2018. Surgery Residents are not able to serve during these time frames.

 

World Medical Mission (WMM) volunteers are self-funded or raise financial support to cover all expenses associated with their trip.  WMM will assist with coordinating all logistical aspects of the trip including medical licensure, work permits, visas, flights, in-country transportation and accommodations, travel insurance, etc.  There is no charge for our services.
