Soddo Christian Hospital, Ethiopia—Orthopedic Surgeon

Soddo Christian Hospital—Sponsored by the St. Luke’s Healthcare Foundation, Soddo is located 250 miles south of the capital city of Addis Ababa in a mountainous area at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Soddo Christian hospital is a 120-bed facility with five wards: two surgical, one maternity, one small ICU, and one general/pediatrics. Current long-term expatriate staff include two general surgeons, one orthopedic surgeon, one OBG, one pediatrician, one ER specialist, and one geriatric specialist. There are currently five Ethiopian FPs and five African general surgery residents.

URGENT NEED: Recruiting an orthopedic surgeon to work at least two weeks, but preferably two-three months to cover an urgent need, and in order to maintain the orthopedic surgery resident program active. Coverage needed for November 2019 as no surgeon will be present at the hospital. Ethiopian medical licensure can be complex and is very detailed. World Medical Mission (WMM) volunteers are self-funded or raise financial support to cover all expenses associated with their trip. WMM will assist with coordinating all logistical aspects of the trip, including medical licensure, work permits, visas, flights, in-country transportation and accommodations, travel insurance, etc. There is no charge for our services.
