As an only child, Delores, a naturalized Texan, moved to Austin at a young age. After graduating from A.S. Johnston High School, where she made lasting friendships and was blessed with a special mentor and journalism teacher Jacquelyn McGee, Delores attended the University of Texas at Austin.

On October 24, 1964, she married Wayne Bailey and was lovingly embraced by the entire Bailey family as one of their own.

Prior to retiring from the Army and Air Force Federal Exchange Credit Union, Delores balanced a full-time career while raising three children in a quaint Texas town called Ovilla. There she made many friends who shared her love for the Lord. Delores was happiest when attending church with her family and Bible Study Fellowship with friends.
