Waights Gibbs Henry, III, entered the gates of heaven with Jesus Christ our Lord, on July 26, 2022. He was born on May 26, 1941, to the parents of Dr. Waights Gibbs Henry, Jr. and Mamie Lark Henry.
He was a faithful husband to Gay Henry for 58 years. Their children include Waights Henry, IV married to Lisa, Vance Henry married to Khrista, and Marylark (Henry) Wilson married to Brent. Waights has nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Waights grew up in LaGrange, Georgia. He attended college at Emory University at Oxford and Emory University. He also was trained as a physician at the Medical College of Georgia and did his surgical residency at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
He was a Major in the Air Force where he served for 2 years in Goose Bay Labrador, Canada. He made his lifetime residency in Marietta, Georgia, as a General Surgeon for 37 years at Kennestone Hospital. He was a gifted surgeon with a big heart. He was grateful to be able to use that gift to help others while on medical missions to Tenwek Hospital in Kenya, and Guatemala.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he loved to sing in the choir for 42 years. He was an avid gardener and outdoorsman. He loved to spend time with close friends and family on the Henry Farm in Warrenton County, Georgia. He also made everyone feel right at home wherever he was. He was loved dearly by many and will surely be missed.
