
Reverend Earl F. Barrick, age 87, departed this life on the morning of Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at WellSpan York Hospital. He was married to Thelma V. Piper, May 29, 1959, and they resided in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
Earl was a graduate of Newville High School, completed courses at Shippensburg University and attended the Wesley Theological Seminary, in Washington, D.C. He worked as a shipping clerk with U-Wanna-Wash Frocks in Newville, Pennsylvania, and he served as a lay-speaker before entering full time ministry. He pastored at Mt. Victory, U.M. Church (Gardners, Pennsylvania), Breezewood U.M Charge, and Roxbury U.M. Charge. After retiring in June 1998, he served as a part time minister with the Hillcrest U.M. Charge (Shade Gap, Pennsylvania).
He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard and an active member of the Crystal Spring Campground Association in Crystal Spring, Pennsylvania. In his free time, Earl enjoyed being with his family, woodworking, hunting, and being outside working around his home.
A son of the late Clarence O. and Mary E. (Flohr) Barrick. Earl was also preceded in death by a brother, Ray O. Barrick. In addition to his wife of sixty-four years, he is survived by two sons, Randy (Kimberly) Barrick of Breezewood, Pennsylvania, and Robert (Tiffany) Barrick of Newburg, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Pandy Tomko-Green of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Reverend Dale (Ann) Barrick of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; and J. Paul (Esther) Barrick of Newville, Pennsylvania; one sister, Helen (Donald) Wagner of Newville, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Bradley, Michael, Abigail, Casey, and Colt; three great-grandchildren, Adri, Morgan, and Samuel “Reed”; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. The Reverend’s Dale Barrick and Joel Barrick will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday morning at the funeral home.
