In Memory Of
Robert Stopher - Lawrenceburg, KY

Robert “Bobby” Carroll Stopher l, the son of the late Carroll Price Stopher and Edna Louise Combs Stopher, ran into the arms of Jesus on August 29, 2021, at the age of 68.

Bobby was a former member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and song leader for 30 years. He was also a member, deacon, and song leader at Glensboro Baptist Church. He worked at Universal Fasteners for 26 years, at the University of Kentucky for a period of time, and at the United States Department of Agriculture for 15 years.

Bobby loved music and went to any Gospel concert he could. He was a member of several Gospel groups throughout the years. He had a heart for helping others and he was involved in several mission groups, including Kentucky Changers and Samaritan's Purse. He was always thoughtful. You could mention something to him that was so small you didn’t think he would remember, but the next time you saw him, or even weeks down the road, he would ask you about it. Anyone who knew Bobby knew that he loved to pick on anyone and everyone, especially people who would send it right back his way. You would rarely find him without a glass of Mountain Dew or sweet tea in his hand, and if you did happen to catch him without it, you could bet that is where he was headed. In his younger years, he was an avid roller-skater and there were few days he wasn’t at the skating rink. He enjoyed watching his granddaughters, “his girls,” play softball and sing in the choir at school. He was often the best dressed man around and loved his colorful sportscoats, ties, and socks. Bobby liked watching his UK Wildcats and taking Sunday naps with his wife. He was so devoted to his family, especially his wife of 49 years.

As a member of the 101st Airborne Division, known as the Screaming Eagles, and the Army Reserves for 36 years, he will be laid to rest with full military rites.

Bobby is survived by his beautiful wife, Cynthia Satterly Stopher. Together, they had two children: Robert (Tracey) Carroll Stopher ll and Cindy (Larry) Gamble. One of his greatest joys in life was being a wonderful grandfather to five granddaughters: MaKayla (Austin) Bragg, Kelsey Stopher, Madelyn Stopher, MaKinley Gamble, and Addison Stopher. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Mary) Stopher of Fulton, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Connie Ray Stopher.

Bobby has left this world, but not without teaching a few lessons: never take life too seriously, music soothes the soul, selflessness is life’s truest joy, and you can never love too hard.

In efforts to keep the family well, we will have a closed funeral for close family. We will have a celebration of his life at a later date.

Bobby’s pallbearers will be his five granddaughters; his son-in-law, Larry Gamble; and his grandson-in-law, Austin Bragg. An honorary pallbearer is Robert “Robby” Carroll Stopher ll.
