In Memory Of
Shirley Haynes - Flower Mound, TX

On April 14, 2021, Shirley Marie Henline Haynes passed away in Savannah, Georgia, while fulfilling a wish of being together with her adoring brothers at least one more time.

Shirley was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend throughout her life. She exemplified unconditional love for her family and loved them fiercely. Shirley loved her Lord Jesus Christ and passed that legacy on to her children and grandchildren.

Shirley was born in Nebo, North Carolina, on Oct. 20, 1934. She graduated from Lee Edwards High School in 1953, and attended college to earn her teaching degree. She started at Carson Newman, then Meredith, Baylor, and graduated from the University of Corpus Christi in 1958.

Shirley was at heart a teacher. Though she taught several grades during her career, she loved teaching middle school, a true gift. She taught at Pauline Hughes Middle School for many years and ended her career at Burleson High School, retiring in 1990. However, she continued to teach for many years past retirement - teaching adult Sunday school at her church which she genuinely loved, and she loved the ladies she taught.

Shirley had the gift of hospitality and would make all who came to her house feel at home. Her family often said that Shirley’s love language was food. She enjoyed cooking and spoiled her family with good Southern food as often as she could and loved fixing special dinners, birthday cakes (with fudge icing), and of course, pound cake.

Shirley was an exceptional mother and grandmother and will be immensely missed by her children and grandchildren: Stan Stewart (wife, Amy) and their children, Aaron and Erica Stewart; Kim Coker (husband, RD) and their children, Kaitlin and Jed Bond and Mia Coker; Scott Stewart (wife, Annie) and their children, Hannah and Cody Stewart.

She is also survived by her brothers, Jud Henline (wife, Patricia) and Chuck Henline (wife, Carson), as well as their loving families.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Morris Haynes, and is also survived by his children, Cynthia and Jan Haynes-Holmevik, Sherry McReynolds, and their loving families.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Lillion Henline, whom she dearly cherished.

A celebration of Shirley’s life is scheduled for April 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Mulkey Mason Funeral home, Lewisville, Texas.
