15 "My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be" (Psalm 139:15-16).

Our beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, Sumi Smorynski, of San Jose, California, passed away on April 10, 2026, surrounded by family. She loved helping people and had the best laugh in the world. She adored and doted on her five nieces whenever she had a chance. She is greatly missed by all that know and love her.

She was born in Seoul, Korea, and raised as an army brat in Germany, and White Sands Missile Range, and Las Cruces, New Mexico. She graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, major Business Computing Systems. She spent her adult life in Boulder, Colorado, and San Jose, California. She worked at IBM, San Jose Mercury News, UBER, and Amazon.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Yong In and Michael Craig; her sister, Tammi Smorynski; brothers and wife, Ronald Smorynski and Philomena Harrington, Michael and Jasmine Craig; and five beautiful and cherished nieces, Philomena, Scarlett, Zuri, Ariana, and Nia.

A Celebration of Sumi’s Life will be held on Friday, June 5 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Hollywood, 6682 Selma Avenue, Hollywood, California 90028. More details on live stream link will be provided at end of May.
