Virginia Kay Remillard - Yelm, WA

Virginia Kay Remillard went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the age of 87. She was born in Kimberly, Idaho, on September 13, 1937, to her late parents Merven Wesley Reed and Evelyn Hope Freeborn Reed.

Virginia, who went by "Kay," was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She and her husband, Dick, raised three sons, mostly in Kent, Washington, and made many wonderful friends while attending the Kent Nazarene Church for more than 30 years. Kay also worked as a keypunch operator, data entry clerk, and customer service representative for several companies, including Puget Sound Energy, Washington Natural Gas, and Boeing. After retiring, Kay and her husband settled in Yelm, Washington. There, she was a devoted member of McKenna Community Church for over 20 years where she headed the Operation Christmas Child shoebox project for several years. Kay often mentioned McKenna Community Church as her second family. She also attended the Christian Women's Club in Yelm for many years.

Kay had several passions. She was always up for traveling. She traveled across the United States. including multiple cross-country trips by car with her young family. She also ventured on multiple international trips to Europe, Asia, Africa, and Central America. Kay volunteered for several disaster relief projects with Samaritan's Purse. She loved music and loved to sing. She sang with several choirs over the years, and even performed at Carnegie Hall.

Kay is survived by her sons, Harlan David Remillard (Michelle), Daryl Thane Remillard (Susie), and Wesley Dean Remillard (Donna), her six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger brother, John Wesley Reed. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dolord "Dick" Remillard; her parents, Merven and Hope Reed; and her older sister, Joalyn Sue Smith.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025,11:00 a.m., at McKenna Community Church in Roy, Washington. Visitation will follow that afternoon at Funeral Alternatives in Lacey, Washington from 3:00 – 4:00. A graveside service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. sharp.
