Samaritan’s Purse is on the ground in West Virginia, after torrential rainfall triggered devastating flash floods in the state’s northern panhandle.

A state of emergency was declared for Ohio County, where homes were flooded and bridges were washed away as local creeks rose to dangerous levels in a matter of minutes. At least seven people lost their lives.

Working with local emergency management and church leaders, Samaritan’s Purse is responding to the Mountain State to help hurting homeowners recover in Jesus’ Name. Disaster Relief Unit 3—a tractor-trailer filled with relief supplies and equipment—is en route to West Virginia to support our response. Volunteers will start working in the community starting June 19, helping homeowners remove waterlogged walls and flooring and salvage personal belongings—all the while sharing the love of Jesus Christ.
