Fredric Martin Hill, 83, of Pensacola, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021. He was born in 1938 in Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN, to the late Wetzel and Georgia Blankenship Hill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Deloris L. Hill, and a brother-in-law, James H. Woods.
Fred was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who had a loving and caring heart, and he was abundantly giving to everyone he knew. He was always attentive to those he cared about, providing unwavering support, and was a true friend who had a calming and soothing presence.
He moved with his family in 1949 to Pensacola, where he became a resident of Navy Point, and then the Ferry Pass and Scenic Heights neighborhoods. He attended Warrington Junior High and Pensacola High School, graduating in the class of 1956. He then attended the University of Florida where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He worked as a Research Chemist with Tenneco, which later became Reichhold Chemicals, and later still, Arizona Chemical. Fredric was involved in research that resulted in industrial patents in the field of resins and adhesives.
Fred was involved with his community, serving on the PHS Class of 1956 Reunion Committee. He was a former member of First Baptist Church of Pensacola and most recently a member of Grace Lutheran. He proudly served as a former Army reservist, and was a lifelong reader and a Florida Gator fan. Fred was a history buff and the family historian; he really enjoyed keeping up with extended family, including many cousins and second cousins spread out across the United States.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife, M. Lynette Hill, of Pensacola; a daughter, Kathryn L.H. Clark (Dale), of Pensacola; a stepdaughter, Cassie A. Balogh (Jorgen), of Pensacola; a stepson, Curtis W. Barfield, of Panama City; a brother, Robert C. Hill, of Pensacola; a sister, Janice M. Woods of Narberth, PA; a grandson, Axel R. Balogh, of Pensacola; a granddaughter, Vendela N. Balogh, of Pensacola; as well as many much loved nieces and nephews.
