In Memory Of
Gary H. Jones - Bend, OR

Gary Hallowell Jones, also known as “G,” Dad, Pop Pop, and G-man, of Bend, Oregon, passed from abundant life (John 10:10) into the "more life" of the presence of the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8), on June 29, 2022, surrounded by the love of his wife of 19 years, Mary Lynn, his daughter, Lauren, and his son, Josh. His short illness took him from us too soon, too fast, and will leave a void only he could fill.

Gary was born in Abington, Pennsylvania, on May 12, 1954, to Donald H. Jones and Marian Ledford. He grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and went to college at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, where he honed his love of skiing. His early work career was in Charlotte, where he also started a family.

Gary had a remarkable career starting as a sales engineer at Brown & Morrison with his father, Don, followed by 30 years as a sales leader at Ifm Efector, a sensor and controls automation company. He created enduring relationships with customers and colleagues by having a true interest in their personal life and their family. He is recognized for creating a culture of optimism, drive, respect, and humility that has shaped the lives of the people he worked with throughout his entire career. He started the first branch office for Ifm in Chicago, where his children and grandchildren still live.

Gary met Mary Lynn in 2001, and the company moved them to the grand Pacific Northwest where he continued to expand territory for the company—and best of all to explore ‘vacationland’ when not on the road working. They greatly enjoyed the community, hiking, skiing, kayaking, golfing, camping, the Oregon coast, craft brews, and so much more. He retired in 2020.

Gary’s work ethic extended to serving his neighborhood in various capacities, serving his church in Bend as a parking greeter and on the church council, and teaching kids and grandkids to ski. He is known for his cooking skills, his dancing and music interests, his hilarious humor, and his varied friends and interests. As his sister says: both he and his Dad were "real characters, and men of character.”

He is survived and greatly missed by his wife, Mary Lynn; daughter and family, Lauren and Dave Fitchett, Thomas, and Elin; son, Joshua and Celeste Jones; and son, Miles; sisters, Donna Dean and Becky Parmer (Curt); nephews, Hunter Smith and family; and and Landon Parmer.
