Jo Winslow, 78, died Oct. 8, 2020, with her children by her side. She was born in December of 1941 in Schenectady, NY.
Jo graduated from Linton High School in Schenectady in 1959. While working as a flight attendant, she married James (Jim) R. Winslow on Jan. 18, 1964, in Overland Park, KS. As she raised her three children, Donna, Keri, and David, she completed a Bachelor of Education degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude from St. Mary of the Plains College in 1989.
She taught third grade in Liberal, KS, until 2000. She and Jim retired to their “farm” in Blanchard, OK, in 2002, where she tutored students in reading, entertained her children and ten grandchildren, and worked to help found Agape Baptist Church. After the death of Jim in 2017, she finished her years living with her daughter and son-in-law and grandchildren in Valley Center, KS.
Jo was passionate about helping children learn to read, teaching art to her children and grandchildren, sewing for her family, and crafting beautiful quilts. She worked hard to help with the ministries of Agape Baptist Church, and despite their small size, the church sent over 1,000 shoeboxes through Operation Christmas Child during her time there.
