John Ford Evans Jr. - Newark, DE

John Ford Evans. Jr., 85, died of complications after a short battle with lung cancer. John was born in Chicago on July 6, 1937, the only child of John Ford Evans and Priscilla Sims.

He married his college sweetheart, Dorothy Warner of Elmer, New Jersey. They were happily married for over 62 years. He was the proud father, of Cathy Evans (Pete Barcroft), Connie (Matt) Hoopes, Liz (Bob) Mulvaney and John Evans III; grandfather "Bop" to Jack and Sean Hoopes and Sam and John Mulvaney. Brother-in-law, Richard (Adele) Warner and their children Rich, Wendy and Derek. All of whom survive John.

John graduated from the University of Arizona law school in the early 60's and practiced law in Phoenix, Arizona, and Salem, New Jerset, before joining the White House staff of President Richard M. Nixon and later served as Assistant to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce. Following government service, John took a corporate legal position with a Cincinnati chemical company. He later returned to Washington, DC, to practice law with O'Connor and Hannan before returning to Salem, New Jersey, to complete a 50 year legal career.

John was loyal and generous, a skillful writer who always found time to pen a special note. He loved to read, watch movies, tennis and long bike rides. He also had wonderful times with family and friends in Avalon and Sea Isle City, New Jersey.
