Maye went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the age of 86. She was born to Fred and Truly Parker in Mobile, Alabama, on June 28, 1938.
A beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, Maye was known for her sweet spirit, creativity, and love for her family.
Maye found joy in the simplest things, whether it was crafting beautiful handmade items, spending time at the beach, traveling, or sewing cherished memories into the fabric of her family’s life.
She loved her children and grandchildren and involved them in her craft projects, teaching them the value of creativity and patience. Her beloved pup, Bella, was a source of joy, keeping her company during cozy evenings at home. She spent many years caring for the babies at Hillcrest Baptist Church, where she lovingly sang “Jesus Loves Me” to many babies while rocking them to sleep.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, James Parker; and son, David Burgess. She is survived by her sister, Sue (Carlton) Jackson of Umatilla, Florida; daughters, Janine (Buddy) Clakley and Jan (Joey) Barrett; and son, Jeff (Kim) Burgess; daughter-in-law, Lori Burgess of Mississippi, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
