In Memory Of
Nora Candelmo - Cary, NC

Nora Candelmo was born on October 28, 1935, in Sinŭiju, Korea, to the late Cho Tong-Gyu and Kim Min-Jae. She was the youngest of five children.

Prior to the Korean War, Nora relocated with her family to Seoul, South Korea. She graduated from Ewha Girl's High School in Seoul, South Korea. While attending Ewha Woman's University, where she was studying economics, she met her devoted husband of 46 years, Anthony “Tony” Candelmo, who was a Marine security guard at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul. After the passage of a Congressional Act in 1959, as to her admission, she immigrated to the United States to be reunited with Anthony and where they would raise their family.

Nora loved gardening, knitting, needlepoint, ceramics, church, vacationing in Aruba, and playing Mahjong, but most of all, she loved her family. She volunteered at Midway Baptist Church, where she was a member. Her life will always serve as a blessed example of love, courage, perseverance, and devotion for those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony. She is survived by her three sons, David Candelmo (Lorie), James “Jim” Candelmo (Kim), and Stephen Candelmo; and her five grandchildren, Kelsey, Evan, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Mia.

Family will receive friends and guests on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Apex Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. After the funeral, a graveside will be held at Kennebec Baptist Church Cemetery.
