Thelma Nunley - Owasso, OK

Thelma Ann Nunley passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 81. Born on July 26, 1944, in Pryor, Oklahoma. Thelma spent 50 years in Pryor raising her family and being actively involved in the community alongside her husband.  She was known for her straightforward nature and honest opinions. Thelma valued her family and did what needed to be done without seeking attention or praise.

She enjoyed gardening and quilting, and was recognized for her skills in the kitchen, especially her baking. At family gatherings, Thelma worked behind the scenes, making sure everyone was well fed and comfortable. She didn’t hesitate to speak her mind and was honest about herself and others. Her time with her grandchildren was truly precious to her, and she showed her care through her actions more than words.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. O.R. "Buddy" Nunley of Owasso, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind her children: sons, Jon Nunley and his wife, Lisa, of Rogers, Arkansas; Joel Nunley and his wife, Peggy, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Caleb Nunley and his wife, Jennifer, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; along with daughters, Chandra Venable and her husband, Tony, of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Jana Ayres and her husband, Michael, of Springdale, Arkansas; she is also survived by her brother, Clarence Voth and his wife, Bonnie, of Inola, Oklahoma; her sister, Delores Voth of Pryor, Oklahoma; her 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren will remember her in their own ways.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Lena (Enns) Voth, and her brother Leon Voth.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Eden Mennonite Church in Inola with Pastor Dave Wiens officiating. Interment will follow in the Eden Mennonite Cemetery with the Nunley grandsons serving as casket bearers. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2026, at Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor. To leave a message, please visit his guestbook at www.shipmansfuneralhome.com.
