Samaritan’s Purse volunteers are working hard in the Detroit area to mud-out homes that were hard-hit by recent flooding. They are removing everything damaged by the water, including sheetrock, flooring, and personal belongings.

Our teams are also spraying homes for mold to help prevent further harm.

“A lot of people were already at the breaking point, and then the storm happens,” said Eric Cedo, senior pastor of Family Christian Church, our base of operations for this response. “We need your help—we can’t do this without you. Nothing gives you more purpose than to make a difference in people’s lives.”

To date, volunteers have served 16 homeowners and seven people have prayed to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior.

“A lot of people were already at the breaking point, and then the storm happens.”

One of those homeowners, Patti Moore Higgins, had lived in her house for 30 years and never experienced flooding. “It was devastating. I lost everything,” she said.

Yet, through the work and witness of our volunteers and Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains, Patti was encouraged and strengthened in her faith in Jesus Christ.

Please pray that many more people will come to faith in Jesus during this response. Pray for the homeowners still struggling to recover after the storm.
