Henry Donald (Don) Barnes, 92, passed away at his home in Hoschton, Georgia, on January 3, 2022, with his adoring wife and family at his side after a battle with congestive heart failure.

Don loved his wonderful wife of 65 years, Shirley, and the life and family they created. He was born in Wilson, North Carolina, and grew up in Goldsboro, North Carolina. He served in the Navy, where he learned so much valuable information that he used throughout his life, before returning home and meeting Shirley. Don then went on to a fascinating, long career at AT&T. After his retirement, he started D&S Properties and built many custom homes. Don was the family's go-to man when something needed fixing or a problem needed solving. He treasured time with his wife, his children, and their families, his little dog, and, of course, the Atlanta Braves.

Don is survived by his wife, Shirley Simmons Barnes; and his three children, Terrie (Keith) Beaucamp, Cathy (Brian Gould) McKinnon, and Bob Barnes. He had six grandchildren, Amanda (Danny) Wilcox, Brian (Chelsey) McKinnon, Courtney (Cody) Cash, Mark (Lauren) McKinnon, Tyler (Allyson) Beaucamp, and Bonnie (Logan Poteet) McKinnon; and nine great-grandchildren.

Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, there will only be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, at Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens.
