In Memory Of
Jack Langley - Charlotte, NC

Jack Talmadge Langley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2024.

Jack was born in Ellijay, Georgia, and grew up on a farm with two loving parents, a sister and three brothers. It was there that he developed his strong work ethic, love for family, selfless attitude and love for the Lord. Throughout his life, Jack always put others before himself and served as a role model to those he encountered.

After graduating high school, he entered the University of Georgia in the fall of 1953 and met the love of his life, Nancy Young, in 1954. He would often regale others with stories of taking chocolate malts to Nancy during her freshman year as a mechanism to win her over. It must have worked, as he and Nancy eloped and were married on April Fool’s Day in 1955. After graduating in 1957 they moved to Atlanta where Jack began his professional career, serving in various sales and sales management roles within the chemical industry.

Jack touched the lives of everyone he met. Whether coaching little league baseball, attending grandchildren’s events or serving as handyman to all, he always brought a positive, caring attitude. He was truly a role model and prime example of putting others above oneself. Jack loved the outdoors, the mountains and working in the yard. Jack was also a die-hard UGA football fan, UNC basketball fan and loved the Atlanta Braves. He rarely missed watching his teams.

But most of all, he loved his family and friends. Jack is survived by his wife, Nancy of Charlotte, North Carolina; two children, Jacquie Kirby and her husband, Robby, of Charlotte, North Carolina, David Langley and his wife, Leslie, of Atlanta, Georgia; five grandchildren, Kathryn Rice and her husband, Adger, Davis Kirby and his wife, Emmy, Caroline Langley, Brooks Langley and Jackson Langley. Also surviving are his three great-grandchildren and beloved brothers, Hubert Langley and Ray Langley. He was predeceased by his sister, Geneva Hyatt; and brother, Herman Langley.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews, North Carolina.
