James Everett Alexander, Sr - Greenfield Twp, ME

James E. Alexander Sr. was born on September 12, 1935 and went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2023, at the age of 87. Jim was born in Hudson, Maine, and was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Alexander and Doris Brooks, Richard Alexander (brother), Melanie Randall (niece), David Alexander (nephew), Elaine Strout (sister), Randy Alexander (nephew) and JT Astle Jr. (great-grandson).

Jim is survived by his wife and best friend of 65 years, Rosalie; children: Cynthia and Scott Crawford, Kathy and Bridge Astle, Julia and Brent Haverlock, Jeanine and Kent Tableman, Jimmy and Denise Alexander and Bradley Stewart.

He was affectionately known as Grampie Greenfield, Big Gramp, and just plain Gramp by his 14 grandchildren: Ryan and Sara Crawford, Travis Crawford, Samantha and Jordan Heimer, Jeremy Astle and Elisha Leavitt, Danny Astle, Michael and Tara Astle, Victoria and Rhett Cockerill, Veronica and Marcus Sibley, Fernald Haverlock, Nicole and Greg Johnston, Wesley and Sarah Day, Tiffany Leadbetter and Chance Abbt, Monica and Brett Bradford, Tyler and Kayla Alexander; 23 much loved great grandchildren: Emilie, Gavin, Rilynn, Madison, Nakeesha, Braydan, Lucas, Dylan, Brooke, Scarlett, Marshall, Gibson, Regan, Olivia, Emma, Elle, Neve, Thea, Ally, Aubrey, Everly, Everett, Ezekiel; and many nieces and nephews.

He served honorably for the U.S. Air Force at Maine Air National Guard for 37 years in weapons/aircraft Fuels. He had many accomplishments during his military career and ended his years of service with a 1990 Tour of Duty Operation Desert Storm/Shield Saudi Arabia and a 1991 Tour of Duty Operation Desert Storm/Shield Spain.

He served the Town of Greenfield as Selectman and caretaker of the cemetery. Jim did all this while maintaining his own Alexander’s Blueberry Farm from 1961 on. For pleasure Jim greatly enjoyed his camp at Brandy Pond, family gatherings, and day trips, and was most known for his storytelling and smile.

He cherished this past year with the Greenfield Bible Study and Prayer Group in his home with family and special friends.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. on June 18, at Brookings and Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, Maine. Reception to follow.
