Samaritan's Purse volunteers are hard at work in five locations after massive winter storms.
Teams of volunteers are serving in Corinth, Mississippi, helping homeowners recover from the ice storm that struck in late January. As freezing rain and sleet began to weigh down power lines and branches, thousands of households lost electricity and large trees were uprooted. Many homeowners likened the cracking tree limbs to the sound of gunshots.
“It was pitch black. The power had already cut off. Every time I heard a crack, I sat there terrified thinking the trees were going to come into my home,” said Marley Whitaker, a homeowner in Corinth.
Samaritan’s Purse set up four bases of operation and our volunteers are serving communities throughout Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee. As teams continue to work hard cutting up fallen trees, removing debris, and tarping damaged roofs, they also go in Jesus’ Name, sharing the hope of the Gospel with affected communities.

Volunteers are hard at work in Corinth where falling trees and snapping limbs sounded like gunshots.
“The team that is in my yard drove through the night to get here, which is unbelievable. They have a servant’s heart to give their time and be out here in the cold,” Marley said. “They’re willing to take time away from their family to come help mine.”
Join us in praying for these communities as they continue to recover from this devastating winter storm, and also for our volunteers who are faithfully serving as the hands and feet of Jesus.
