It's Christmastime Again at the Greta Home!

December 19, 2017 • Haiti

Franklin Graham, Greta Van Susteren, and John Coale enjoyed an early Christmas celebration in Haiti.

Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham joined Greta Van Susteren and her husband John Coale at the Greta Home and Academy in Haiti on Tuesday, Dec. 19, to wish the residents a merry Christmas. In what has become a Christmastime tradition, Greta and John gave gifts to each child resident and all the staff members there. The Greta Home residents, in turn, presented a special Christmas program.

Operated by Samaritan’s Purse, The Greta Home and Academy is named for the long-time journalist because of her advocacy on behalf of the people of Haiti following the 2010 earthquake. Samaritan’s Purse constructed the Home and Academy on the site where an orphanage and school were destroyed by the earthquake.

The Greta Home and Academy is dedicated to providing a Christian living and learning environment for orphans and other children in the Léogâne community of Haiti. The school trains the children to become Christian leaders by giving them a quality education, marketable skills, and spiritual encouragement through discipleship courses and worship services.

The Greta Home and Academy currently has more than 240 young people in its programs. There are 170 students from the local community who attend classes alongside more than four dozen boys and girls who live full-time at the Greta Home. There are also 16 teen boys in our semi-independent living program and a number of children in our family reunification program.
