Samaritan's Purse is bringing relief to the Hudson Valley in the wake of tremendous rainfall. We are also deploying to Vermont.
Following disastrous flooding, Samaritan’s Purse is responding in Highland Falls, New York. A Disaster Relief Unit (DRU) is on site, and staff and volunteer teams are already helping homeowners there in Jesus’ Name.
Historic rainfall throughout the Northeast caused catastrophic flooding, leaving thousands of damaged homes and at least one person dead. Some communities along the Hudson Valley received nine inches of rain this week resulting in flash floods, infrastructure damage, and loss of power. A state of emergency was declared to encourage homeowners to evacuate.
Volunteer teams are removing waterlogged items from homes, cutting out damaged drywall and flooring, and treating for mold. As we work, we have opportunities to share the love of God and the hope found only in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our host congregation is Cornwall Baptist Church. Volunteer orientations will be held at 378 Main Street (ChargePoint station) in Highland Falls—the DRU is parked at this site.
We have also deployed to Barre, Vermont, with an additional DRU that left North Carolina on Saturday, July 15. Our host church is Faith Community Church in Barre. During both of these deployments, we are once again serving alongside the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Rapid Response Team.
Pray for the families and communities most affected by these torrential floods in the Hudson Valley and in Vermont. Pray for us as we come alongside the local church to work in Jesus’ Name.
Samaritan’s Purse U.S. Disaster Relief is deployed across four states right now: Arkansas, New York, Oklahoma, and Vermont. We also have an ongoing rebuild project in Kentucky. Join us to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ; for more information go to spvolunteer.org.
