A Disaster Response Unit and other equipment have arrived in Brantley County. We are assisting devastated communities with debris removal and ministering to hurting families in Jesus' Name.
Over recent weeks, wildfires have scorched more than 20,000 acres along south Georgia’s Highway 82. Many homeowners have been affected.
Emergency responders have increasingly contained the blazes, making it safe for Samaritan’s Purse to enter the area. Our volunteers started the morning of May 4, serving families in Brantley County whose homes were lost or damaged to the flames. They are helping residents with debris removal from properties, while also sharing the hope of the Gospel with those who are hurting.
Our Disaster Response Unit #1 departed North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, on April 30 and established a base of operations at our host church, Hickox Baptist Church at 7224 Caney Bay Road in Nahunta. Several of our Disaster Relief Vehicles housed at local churches, along with other equipment, also deployed to equip our volunteers with tools and supplies.
Visit spvolunteer.org for more information on how you can help be the hands and feet of Jesus to Georgia homeowners.
Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains will also be on hand to provide emotional support and spiritual encouragement.
Please continue to pray for these many suffering families and for our teams as they serve them in Jesus’ Name.
