In Memory Of
Anne S Davis - Kernersville, NC

Anne Stuart Davis, 90, of Kernersville, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord after a brief illness. Anne is survived by George Davis, her husband of 70 years; her sister, Julie Cosby; seven (7) daughters, Lynn Davis, Pattie (Jim) Wolfe, Cheryl (Jim) Ogle, Tamara (Kirk) Bailey, Carol (Randy) Vernon, Dede Davis, and Joan (Curt) Wanner; 22 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

As Proverbs 31 states, “A truly good wife is the most precious treasure a man can find. Her husband depends on her and she never lets him down… She works with willing hands… She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy.” Anne embodied the Proverbs 31 woman by first meeting the needs of her family and then through serving her church and community faithfully.

For 30 years at Calvary Church Charlotte and 40 years at Triad Baptist Church, Kernersville, North Carolina, she visited shut-ins, delivered bread, welcomed church visitors, hosted community groups, and kept nursery. She was the Titus Woman at Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS), a reader and special chapel speaker at Triad Baptist School, taught VBS, hosted Backyard Bible Clubs, was a Pioneer Girls leader, was a member of Faithful Friends, served as wedding coordinator, packed numerous shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse, and welcomed missionaries, traveling singing groups, and visitors into her home.

Although she would be first to admit that culinary skills were not her forte, she was always sensitive to those who had no family nearby, and Sunday and Thanksgiving meals often included extra guests. She found joy in serving others, and that is a life well-lived. Her greatest wish was to see her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren come to know and follow the Lord, to reunite with them again in heaven for eternity. She prayed for them all and cared about each deeply.

She is now held forever in the arms of Jesus. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord… They shall rest from their labors, and their deeds shall follow them” (Revelation 14:13).

She had a special place in her heart for children, particularly those less fortunate, and wanted to see all come to know her Lord. She packed numerous Operation Christmas Child boxes over the years and supported Samaritan's Purse and their humanitarian work around the world. For this reason, her family finds it especially meaningful to set up a memorial fund in her name to Samaritan's Purse/Operation Christmas Child.
