Donna Hendricks-Nowak, also known as Puppy Nanny, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
She was diagnosed with Stage III Melanoma in 2001, and by the Lord’s grace, she recovered completely and had been cancer-free until 2021. Her cancer progressed to Stage IV Melanoma, leaving her wheelchair bound and without the use of her legs. Despite her prognosis, she remained positive and continued to make family the center of her life.
Of most importance to Donna was spending her life serving others and bringing glory to the Lord and His kingdom. Other interests included animals (particularly dogs) and sharing her love of nature and the backcountry with others. She viewed the backcountry as a place that is pristine, rugged, invigorating, and most importantly, a place where one communes with God. She shared this joy of nature with her friends and family as she helped shepherd them through their own personal journeys.
Donna is survived by her husband, the honorable David A. Nowak, whom she frequently called the love of her life. She leaves behind five children, Adam (Melissa), Jenna (John), Kara (Sam), Katie, and Sarah (Louis); 10 grandchildren, Audrey, Wesley, Evie, Gracie, Mila, Clark, Maya, Louie, Ayden, and Gideon; and two siblings, Brenda Wolfe (Ted) and Gary Tugwell. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.
Please join us for a memorial service to celebrate her life on Tuesday, March 15, at 3:00 p.m., at Myers-Reed Chapel, with Reverend Kevin M. Baker officiating. Friends may gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, an organization that brings physical relief and the Gospel to hurting people around the world.
