In Memory Of
Helen Yoder - Greenville, SC

Helen Irene Yoder (1946-2026)

Helen Irene Yoder, 79, of Greenville, South Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 23, 2026.

Helen was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1946 to William and Mildred Schaumburg. With her family, she moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at the age 2 with her younger brother Paul, who became her best friend. She attended high school in Crystal Lake, Illinois, before graduating from the University of Wisconsin. She then joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ in North Dakota, where she met her future husband, Richard Michael “Mick” Yoder, who still talks about how he fell for her during their first year working together. They were married in May of 1970. Together they continued serving on staff for Campus Crusade in Ohio and Indiana and later served with Family Life Ministries in Arkansas, all while growing their family at each stop along the way. They moved to Greenville in 1981 and have called it home ever since.

In Greenville, her focus was raising her children and advocating for their success. As her children grew and left home, she began a career in computer sales and software education. She later retired with over a decade of experience as a healthcare consultant.

All who knew Helen knew that her family was her passion. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, affectionately known as Mimi. She cherished the time she could spend with her children and their families. She especially loved playing games and baking with her 12 grandchildren in Greenville and at the lake.

Helen was preceded in death by her son, Benjamin Michael Yoder, and brother, William Paul Schaumburg. She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 55 years, Mick; her children: Luke Patrick Yoder (Lori), Timothy Richard Yoder (Ivy), David Everett Yoder (Kat), and Hope Michael Davis (Chris); and her 12 beloved grandchildren: Mary Helen, Margaret, Anna Lee, Betsy, Benji, Sara, Millie, Lily, James, Sam, Will, and Laney, who already miss their Mimi immensely.

A private family graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Samaritan’s Purse.
