In Memory Of
Henry A Lutz, JR. - Hanover, PA

Dr. Henry A. Lutz, Jr., 83, a resident of SpiriTrust Lutheran, the Village at Utz Terrace, Hanover, PA, was promoted to glory on Feb. 12, 2021, while surrounded by his family, after living a life dedicated to serving God, his country, and his community.

Born in Mechanicsburg, PA, he was the son of Henry A. Lutz, Sr. and Alda B. (Marquart) Lutz. Henry "Tuffy" Lutz graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 1955. Henry served in the Army Reserves for eight years and married the love of his life, Lou Meals, on Oct. 9, 1955, in the Mechanicsburg Church of God.

Until the Lord called him into vocational pastoral ministry he worked as a pin-setter at a Mechanicsburg bowling alley, distributed programs at Williams Grove Speedway, and sold Prudential insurance. But Henry's greatest passion, while raising his four daughters, was inviting all people to give their lives to Jesus Christ.

While loving his wife and raising his family, Henry attended and graduated from Messiah College and Evangelical School of Theology in Myerstown, PA. He later earned his doctorate from Christian Bible College of Rocky Mount, NC.

After his ordination in 1972 with the Churches of God, General Conference, and until he retired in 2003, Henry served and loved the people of the Wormleysburg Church of God, a four-church circuit including Doubling Gap, McClure's Gap, North Middleton, Plainfield Church of God, the Lisburn and Andersonstown Churches of God, Enhaut Bible Church, Calvary Bible Church, Lighthouse Baptist Church of Gettysburg, and Battlefield Bible Church of Hagerstown.

During and after his service as a pastor, Henry worked as a substitute teacher in the Big Spring and Central Dauphin school districts, car salesperson at Francis for Fords, and maintenance supervisor for Pennswood Apartments and Townhomes and Beaufort Manor Apartments of Harrisburg.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lou (Meals) Lutz; four daughters: Pamela Miller (Dale), Kathy Chilmaza (Jorge) of Harrisburg, Beverly Ford (Allen) of East Berlin, and Robin Brice (Rodger) of Dillsburg; nine grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and one sister, Anna Lutz. Henry was predeceased by his parents; four sisters: Lenora Selders (Peg), Lorena Millette (Chick), Ruth Fertenbaugh, and Winifred Fishel (Winnie); and his brother Robert Lutz.

A celebration of Henry’s life of faith and service was held on Feb. 12, 2021, at Calvary Bible Church in Hanover, PA, with Henry’s son-in-law, Pastor Dale Miller, Jr., and Pastor Gary Mills officiating. A private burial service will be held in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg, PA.
