In Memory Of
JoAnne Peterson - Terrell, TX

JoAnne Ruby Jackson Peterson was born in Starbuck, Minnesota, on February 11, 1935, to Arthur and Anna Jackson.

She married the love of her life, Hans Peterson, on August 29, 1953, and together they raised eight children. Starting out in Minnesota, they moved to Eagle Pass, Texas, in 1968. While living on the Texas/Mexico border, JoAnne worked beside Hans for over 50 years in their veterinary practice and in the ministry that God had laid on their hearts, sending Spanish Bibles to people all over Mexico.

JoAnne is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hans Peterson, her parents, and her daughter, Dr. Jane Leach. She is also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Brooke Dargel; and great-granddaughter, Emma Davidson; her brother, Sonny Jackson; and her sister, Shirley Moe.

JoAnne is survived by seven children, David (Carolyn) Peterson, Darwin (Kathy) Peterson, Kevin (Deena) Peterson, Julie (David) Blaylock, (Michael) Leach, Karen (David) Briles, Sandra (David) Dargel, and Stan (Teresa) Peterson. She is also survived by her brother, Gerald (Marianne) Jackson, sisters-in-law Lila (Tom) Creager, Marlys Peterson, and Eunice Peterson, and numerous nieces and nephews. JoAnne prayed daily for her 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and their families.

JoAnne taught her children grace and modeled hard work with a servant’s heart. She chose contentment, as she left behind what was familiar, to embrace God’s leading in the ministry He had prepared for them. Proverbs 31:25 and 28 exemplify her legacy. It reads in part: “Strength and dignity are her clothing; she shall rejoice in the time to come… Her children rise up and call her blessed”.
