In Memory Of
Mabel Sorrell - Lakeway, TX

Mabel Elaine Ledbetter Sorrell went peacefully to sleep after having been surrounded by many loved ones on April 10, 2021, and woke to a celebration in heaven. She has known and loved Jesus since she was a small child, and we know that a “great cloud of witnesses” that included her family and friends were excitedly waiting to welcome her into her forever home where she can worship her Savior in person.

Mabel joined the Ledbetter family on her birthday, Feb. 18, 1932. It was at home that she first heard about Jesus from her parents, Pearl Almira Chambers Ledbetter and Charlie Daniel Ledbetter. Mabel made a commitment to love and follow Jesus before she was even a teenager and was baptized by Pastor Leroy Nixon in Little Mazarn Creek behind Center Fork Baptist Church. Mabel was always a petite little girl and when the pastor went to immerse her for baptism, her feet floated up and her toes broke the surface of the water. She came up sputtering and DEMANDED to be baptized again so that her whole body would be immersed at one time. Surrounded by friends and family on the banks of the creek, Pastor Nixon gladly complied.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Charlie; her siblings, Jeff Ledbetter (Emma Faye), Austin Ledbetter (Hughlette), Mary Laverne Campbell (George), Georgia Mae Capshaw (Wally), Tom Ledbetter (Delma), Elvin Ledbetter, Doyle Ledbetter, and many other well-loved family and friends.

Mabel is survived by her husband and true love of 72 years, Jack Sorrell; children Johnny Sorrell (Debbie), Jack Sorrell (Brenda), Judy Sloan (Greg), and Jeanette McWilliams (Andy); siblings James Ledbetter (Norma), Estelle Wheeler (James); a host of beloved grandchildren (10), great-grandchildren (26), and great-great-grandchildren (2); cousins; and nieces and nephews.
