Martha Shaw - Chambersburg, PA

Martha Aldrich Shaw, 82, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019.

Born on July 9, 1936, in South Paris, Maine, she was a daughter of the late Homer Aldrich and Gladys Starbird Mellor. She was a graduate of the South Paris High School and attended Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. A homemaker most of her life, Mrs. Shaw was a member of the Chambersburg Christian and Missionary Alliance Church where she volunteered with the Kids Club and the food pantry. She was a former long-time member of The Open Door Church where she was active with missions and the quilting club.

Her hobbies included quilting, reading, sewing, gardening, canning, and travel. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities and was involved with church mission work throughout her lifetime. Her husband of 52 years, Murray E. Shaw, whom she married June 16, 1956, preceded her in death on July 23, 2008.

She is survived by four children, Elizabeth Morrison (Timothy) of Ephrata, Janet Schlotter of Chambersburg, Timothy Shaw (Heidi) of Fairfield, and Andrew Shaw (Andrea) of Carlisle; nine grandchildren, Rebekah Petris (Joshua), Jonathan Morrison, Deborah Harkness (Zachary), Shawnee Shaw, Benjamin Schlotter, Cheyenne Shaw, Sarah Smith (Nick), Aubrey Shaw, and Alyssa Shaw; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles Aldrich (Carol) of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, and Stephen Aldrich (Joyce) of Roxbury, Maine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Grover and Joyce Sampson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at the Chambersburg Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 230 Siloam Road, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Pastor Jeff McCracken will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00–8:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
