William Norney Jordan - Newtown Square, PA

William Norney Jordan, 90, of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away after a long-fought battle with cancer, on December 8, 2022, surrounded by his family and friends.
Bill was an only child, born on February 8, 1932, in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to parents Mildred Frances Jordan and William Jordan.

After graduation from West Philadelphia High School, Bill attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, to study English Literature and Theology. Bill cherished his years at Wheaton where he built special memories and strengthened the foundation of his faith.
Bill met his wife, Nora Mae Carroll, while attending the First Baptist Church in Newtown Square. Bill and Nora became actively involved at First Baptist, where they built lifelong friendships. Bill served the church as a Sunday school teacher, usher, and education director.

Bill lived and raised his family in Broomall, Pennsylvania, before moving to Newtown Square.
Bill was employed for 24 years at Commercial Union Insurance Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as a subrogation claims specialist, before continuing his career in the insurance industry at Transamerica Insurance. Upon retirement, Bill volunteered his time to work at Interserve, an agency that provides opportunities for Christians to use their professional skills to serve others in Asia and the Arab world.

Bill’s hobbies included photography, stamp collecting, and listening to classical music. He also loved researching and recording facts about his genealogy. Bill was an avid flower gardener who was proud of his roses. Bill was a loyal Philadelphia sports fan, who especially loved watching the Phillies play. He was actively involved in the lives of his grandchildren throughout their childhood and into their teenage years.

Bill was a family man who put God first in his life. He was a kind, compassionate, giving person, who was always looking for ways to support and pray for those around him. Bill was known for undertaking thoughtful detailed research and analysis before every key life decision.

William is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nora Mae (nee Carroll) Jordan; his two children, Timothy Norney Jordan (Susan) and Brenda Ann Laessig (John); and his three grandchildren Lauren Olivia Jordan, Julia Jordan Laessig, and John Donald Laessig, III.
