In response to the devastating Eaton Fire, Samaritan’s Purse is launching a residential rebuild initiative in Altadena, California, with a goal of constructing up to 100 new homes for families who lost their primary residences.
The Altadena Rebuild Program
Following the January 2025 Los Angeles County wildfires, Samaritan’s Purse is providing resources to rebuild owner-occupied primary residences destroyed by the fire. Approved homeowners will receive support to rebuild their homes using a curated selection of plans designed for durability, livability, and long-term recovery.
Program Highlights
- Goal: Build up to 100 new homes in Altadena
- Fire Response: Eaton Fire recovery effort
- Home Designs: Homes will be built using the Foothill Catalog of floor plans
- Local Partnerships: Construction will be completed in partnership with local California-licensed builders and subcontractors
- Community Focus: Priority given to uninsured and under-insured families
- Accessibility Considerations: Special needs, such as accessibility features, may be incorporated when required
How the Program Works
- Samaritan’s Purse provides rebuilding resources and approved home plans
- A California-licensed general contractor oversees each build
- Local trades perform electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other specialty work
- Homeowners participate in the rebuilding process and commit to maintaining the home as their primary residence
